A Message from Pastor Joe!
Radio Talk Show in Wichita & Topeka

You might say, “What is so unusual about that?” This radio talk show, “Answering the Call,” is presented from a biblcal worldview on two secular stations, KNSS 1330 AM/Wichita and WIBW 580 AM/Topeka, from 8 to 9 p.m. each Sunday.

It is hosted by two Wichita pastors, Terry Fox of Immanuel Baptist and myself. We discuss subjects relating to our everyday lives. We have already debated the leading homosexual lobbyist in Topeka concerning same-sex marriage and have also interviewed new Senate President Steve Morris from Hugoton and Wichita Mayor Carlos Mayans. We have covered many subjects that deal with our ever changing culture here in America and especially Kansas.

Many future guests have agreed to be a part of our broadcast, including country recording artists Randy Travis and Ricky Skaggs, two U.S. State Governors, and a number of Senators and Representatives, both in Topeka and Washington, D.C., as well as other government officials. We have even asked a representative from the ACLU to be our guest when we discuss the “separation of church and state.”

This is a “live” call in talk show where our listeners can phone and ask questions and join the discussion. It has been received with great enthusiasm across our state. Other markets around the nation are even expressing an interest. Who knows where this will eventually go?
Some have asked, “Is it appropriate for religious leaders to speak out on political and moral issues that effect the laws of our nation?” Jesus said, “I tell you, don’t resist an evildoer. On the contrary, if anyone slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also” (matt 5:39). Does that mean we never respond or defend ourselves? The only answer can be a biblical one. What DID Jesus DO?

1) He responded and defended the name and standards of a Holy God. Whenever God was defamed and His character misrepresented, Jesus did not turn the other cheek! Israel’s religious leaders misled the people and gave a picture of a hateful God. Jesus said to them, “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You lock up the kingdom of heaven from people. For you don’t go in, and you don’t allow those entering to go in...Snakes! Brood of vipers! How can you escape being condemned to hell? (matt 23:13,33).”

Men of God must speak out when there are those who are dedicated to deceiving and destroying the character of God. When the definition of marriage is changed, the definition of sin is changed, and then the definition and character of God are changed in the minds of men. Godly men must speak out for the truth...that God is holy and does not change in character or standards of purity. We cannot let people in power, whether in government or educational fields, attempt to destroy the foundational belief system of our great nation. We cannot turn the other cheek just as Jesus did not when His Father was defamed.

2) Jesus did not respond or defend Himself when He was attacked personally. When Jesus was before Pilate, He was accused of many things. “And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, He didn’t answer. Then Pilate said to Him, ‘Don’t you hear how much they are testifying against you?’ But He didn’t answer him on even one charge, so that the governor was greatly amazed. (matt 27:12-14).

As long as we defend the faith by relating how issues are viewed from a biblical, Christian point-of-view, I believe we are carrying out what Jesus did. We are committed to avoiding responding to personal attacks and will work to speak only to the issues. It is our desire to do what the Apostle Peter said in I Peter 3:15-16. It is our prayer that this radio program will affect the body of Christ by raising the awareness of who we are and what we believe and stand for. We covet your prayers. I love you,

I love you,
