At the end of this month, we will be saying goodbye to Doris Howard, who has served at Central Christian since 1982.
Doris has worn many hats and has touched many lives. When I first came to Central in 1987 to begin my ministry as Senior Pastor, Doris and her husband, Maurice, were already here. Maurice was our Pastor of Christian Education and Doris served as our volunteer youth director.
During my first year here in Wichita, Doris’ husband unexpectedly went to be with the Lord and Doris has remained in Kansas serving Christ and His Church through many of Central’s ministries.
Most recently, her position as Director of “Threads of Hope” has helped many women, both young and old, deal with life’s challenges. Christ’s love, expressed through her, Doris has often brought “hope to the hopeless." She has been mother, grandmother, sister and mentor to many individuals. She will be greatly missed by them!
Doris is moving to Asheville, NC to join her daughters, Sherri and Sue and their families, who minister there in a new church plant. Please keep her in your prayers and take a moment to express to her how much she is appreciated. Her last official day on staff will be May 31.
