A Message from Pastor Joe!
Have a “Thankful” Thanksgiving!

We are in the midst of the Thanksgiving season.

Turkeys | Cranberry sauce | Pumpkin pie
Mom’s stuffing hot from the oven
Green bean casserole | College football
Grandparents, aunts and uncles

All of those words generate lots of special memories for each of us, but how much time this season will we actually be involved in giving thanks? Reflecting on that first Thanksgiving brings everything back into perspective. On December 21, 1620 the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock. It was the dead of winter and the colony was struggling with what little food they had, a bitterly cold wind that chilled them to the bone and all types of disease. It is recorded that nearly half of the 102 passengers on the Mayflower never survived that bitter winter to see spring.

But God sent the Indians to help the English settlers plant, hunt and fish. The bountiful harvest they had that fall led the Governor to invite the Indians to join them in celebrating God’s goodness. The Pilgrims had lived close enough to the soil to know how dependent they were on God’s Providence. They had learned to thank God in the midst of the bitterness of the past winter. They were quick to thank Him during abundant blessing as well.

I see young families teaching their small children to say “please” and “thank you”, yet it is so easy for us to be rude and unthinking toward God. Too often we fail to acknowledge His goodness towards us. We take so much for granted! It is my prayer that this holiday season you will take the time to express your gratitude and thanks to your Heavenly Father for His many blessings on your life. We have much to be thankful for, both individually and as a church family!!

I Love You!

P.S. As we reflect on God’s goodness, let’s remember to share His bounty with those less fortunate. Please bring the following items to help build a Mountain of Food in our foyer this month.

Tuna | Canned Soup | Juice | Shampoo | Baby Wipes | Diapers | Canned Meat | Dry Soups | Coffee | Sugar | Canned Fruits & Vegetables | Boxed Jell-O | Noodles | Boxed Dinners | Pasta | Hot Chocolate | Toilet Paper |
Paper Towels | Laundry Soap | Bar Soap | Dryer Sheets | Etc.
